Grand yet elegant, this 12.5m x 5m pool offers all the spoils of pool enjoyment for the whole family. Adhering to strict criteria from their client, Senator Pools has created this outdoor escape complete with a spa, a pool large enough for laps, and plenty of safe areas for young ones. The gorgeous addition of an infinity edge detail allows the family to enjoy a view of the sprawling valley below.

The large pool is constructed with a deep centre and shallow depths at each end to provide a great set up not only for leisure swimming, but for the inevitable game of volleyball with the family. Creating symmetry in the design, Senator Pools constructed a wading area on the opposite side of the spa – allowing homeowners to keep a watchful eye on their little ones whilst they relax in the spa nearby.

Adding ‘wow’ factor to this pool, the infinity edge detail is constructed using a glass wall. The glass wall provides a window into the pool’s depths from the outside, whilst creating a beautiful reflection onto the pool wall during sunset.

The reinforced concrete shell provides stability and longevity, beautified by the combination of Ezzari Mosaic tiles and glass Beadcrete in the lining. Presenting a bright blue hue throughout the day, the Beadcrete lining glows blue in the evening thanks to the Aquaquip Aquastar eVo2 underwater lighting. By sunset, the Ezzari mosaic tiles appear pearlescent, adding a sense of magic to the pool.

Nestled between the alfresco area, overlooking the sloping landscaped garden, this pool makes the most of the entertaining potential the outdoor area offers. To maximise entertainment space, the positioning of the pool required careful planning to allow the infinity edge to be installed, and to accommodate a tiled walkway that wraps around the pool and provides connection to all the additional offerings.

Responding spatially to the extended alfresco area and surrounding landscape, the pool mirrors the length of the outdoor entertainment area. This provides uninterrupted views to the valley below the pool – bringing symmetry, unity, and cohesion to the outdoor area.

Working closely with the client to create their dream pool, Senator Pools collaborated with the pool designer and client to formulate a three-dimensional model of the pool’s design that achieved the client’s brief. With a focus on refining and working collaboratively, Senator Pools operated alongside the designer to attain the optimal result for the client.

When building this pool in this sloped location, the Senator Pools team faced challenges, inclusive of mediating the filled platform around the residence and responding to soft ground conditions throughout the construction process. In its final stages, the team at Senator Pools met the exacting details of constructing the concrete to frame the glass panel to be cast on the leading edge of the infinity wall detail.

The environmentally conscious homeowners heat the sizable pool with an expansive Solar PV system situated on the roof of the residence, resulting in significantly reduced operational and environmental costs. Installed with a mineral filtration system, the water is softer and less irritating to young and sensitive skin and the mineral components are not as harsh on the pool materials.
