Trayd Pools Project 2

This resort-style pool measures 6m x 3m and features an impressive swim-out, as well as a fully heated spa with jets. The pool and landscaping were designed by Pete Saunders from SITEDESIGN+STUDIOS in the Sutherland Shire, and built by Trayd Pools. Trayd Pools and Saunders worked with the clients to design their dream pool and backyard in their forever home.

The creative use of the space results in a complete tropical landscape design, with multiple areas coming together for the whole family to enjoy. The homeowners wanted to feel as though they were on holidays all year-round with lots of palms and ample space for their family to entertain and grow into. Plenty of room was a necessity so the young kids could play, but also the resort retreat feel was important for the adults. The space also was to be used throughout the colder months.

With attractive features like full automation of equipment, a heated pool and spa, and tropical planting, this pool was designed with a large 3m x 1m swim-out for the homeowners’ small children to enjoy. The design utilised the sloping block in order to incorporate the raised spa and made the spill over from the spa into a pool a more exciting and pronounced feature. The pool and spa are connected smoothly to the alfresco, and there is plenty of grassed area on the levels above and below the pool. The alfresco is perfect for lounging in the sun with a good book or for entertaining family and friends.

The sloping block initially proved to be a challenge, as well as the mixture of decking, tiles and polished concrete finishes. Trayd Pools succeeded in blending the chosen finishes. Porcelain 600mm x 600mm light grey tiles were used for paving and coping, while glass fencing gives the pool an open, inviting look. Soft landscaping created a holiday feel and a relaxed vibe, with giant birds of paradise, golden cane palms, kentia palms and gorgeous frangipanis adding
lots of character to the surrounds.

The concrete pool surface is tiled with an Ezarri mosaic waterline, while the swim-out and 3m x 1.2m spa is tiled with a pebblecrete pool interior. The filter and pump was provided by Astral Pools, including a Connect 10 automation system. The pool is fully heated, with multi-coloured underwater lighting and landscaping lighting for evening enjoyment and entertaining potential.
