Scape Pools + Spas Project 1

Situated on a corner block, this deceptively simple family pool brings together a range of elements to enhance the seclusion of the rear backyard. Scape Pools + Spas worked with Brandon Wallis of SITEDESIGN+STUDIOS to create a pool that complements the coastal style of the home, resulting in a stylish space to enjoy the water in comfort.

Privacy can be a challenge on a corner block, yet Scape Pools + Spas provided it by considering the entire pool environment the way one would a house, keeping space and purpose in mind. By reducing the pool area to 6m by 3m, Scape Pools + Spas created a deep buffer zone comprising a gracefully curving sandstone wall, softening greenery, as well as a deck, which cantilevers over the pool. The team worked closely with the landscapers to ensure plantings complemented the area for a harmonious aesthetic.

The sandstone wall echoes the natural stone and neutral colour palette of the dwelling, allowing the luminous pool and verdant landscaping to draw the eye – an effect that will be enhanced as the plants mature.

As the pool is concealed from the street via the buffer, the homeowners can recline on the thoughtfully placed submerged benches or lounge on the deck without feeling on display. Upon entering the space, family and friends can admire the glittering mosaic tiles by Ezarri, which delicately reflect the water’s hue. For visual cohesion, the same tiles line the waterline and the submerged benches, while grey limestone coping adds presence, weight, and a gentle contrast in colour and shape.
