AN URBAN COURTYARD DESIGN

EXCELLENCE AND SUPURB EXECUTION

This beautifully-designed courtyard was crafted with privacy, entertainment and functionality in mind. Boasting an impressive alfresco area, luminous outdoor lighting and a sleek and unexpected plunge pool, the outdoor space has been designed to suit wining, dining and swimming. If this wasn’t enough, the courtyard has been cleverly equipped with built- in storage to house unsightly pool equipment, dryers and a bin, plus a secure parking space for the homeowner’s car.

The inner city courtyard has made the most of a small space by building the pool flush with the property’s boundary, while the frameless glass fencing – which meets New South Wales’ boundary regulations – ensures the outdoor area can be viewed from the home’s main living areas.

Natural materials have been used for the hardscaping around the pool, with Spotted Gum hardwood decking, bluestone coping and cedar vertical slatted feature walls, which provide interesting and textural focal points. The courtyard’s colour palette was kept neutral, to ensure the pool would be the main feature of the backyard. The fully-tiled pool and surrounding landscaping blends perfectly with the home’s architecture, and ensures the courtyard acts as a continuation of the home’s interior.

To finish off the space, GOODMANORS Pool + Garden planted a selection of tropical plants in raised garden beds to enhance the courtyard’s resort-style feel, while also maximising its privacy.

Established in 1986, GOODMANORS Pool + Garden consists of an experienced team of landscape designers and builders. Project 1

FLAWLESS DESIGNS

A PRIVATE PARADISE

The flawless execution of this contemporary pool and garden area perfectly exemplifies the skills and dedication that goodMAnoRs Pool + garden brings to every project. With this particular space, the homeowners wanted a design that would flow seamlessly from the house. The team at goodMAnoRs Pool + garden, therefore, focused its plan on complementing the architecture and interior styling of the existing home.

The homeowners also required a private area shielded from close-by neighbours and apartment blocks. To achieve this, sleek boundary fencing was installed and lush foliage was planted for additional coverage.

The striking spotted gum hardwood decking extends upwards through the space as a timber staircase and risen deck overlooking the courtyard helps to cleverly utilise different levels.

An outdoor room is also integrated into the design and creates a relaxed area for entertaining. The glass doors facing the pool area provide a luxurious view, allowing the owners to soak up the beauty and natural aesthetic of their garden year-round.

The mineral magnesium pool is a central feature of this space, with bluestone step treads on the interior that contrast beautifully against the surrounding pavers and exquisite mosaic tiles. Hurlcon JX160 gas heating and Aqua-Quip Jet- Vac cleaning systems keep pool maintenance to a minimum and ensure the pool is always looking its best.

GOODMANORS Pool + Garden was established by Raoul Van de laak and Ron Berkelmans in 1986.
